Legend of Zelda Dungeon Level 8

Now that you know where the secret location of Level 7 is in Legend of Zelda, you need to find a bush and use your candle on it to reveal the hidden stairs leading to Level 8 Dungeon.

Legend of Zelda Dungeon Level 8

To locate this bush, from the starting screen of the game, just go up once and then to the right 7 or 8 screens and you'll find the bush to use candle on.

Items to locate in Level 8 Dungeon:

The Magical Key, and the Book of Magic

Dungeon Walkthrough

Once inside, go right to grab key and then go left three times to get Book of Magic. Backtrack to starting room then go up twice and then right to get Compass and then go back left until you can no longer go left, clearing each room along the way getting a key in each. From the furthest left room go right once then up twice to get hint room on location of Level 9 dungeon: Spectacle Rock is an entrance to Death."

Go back down then to the right, then up. Remember this room with two fireball spewing statues, you'll need to come back here after getting Magical key. From room with statues, go up to get map, then up again and to the right for stair case leading to Magical key.

Come back and go up for bombs, then down and left for more bombs in case you need them along the way to boss for bombing walls or for boss fight. Either way, go back to room with those two statues you noted, and then go to right.

Go down stairs and you are now one room away from the boss.

In the first room you exit from stairs, bomb a hole in the wall to the north and enter boss room. The boss of level 8 Dungeon is a 4 headed Gleeok.

Legend of Zelda Boss Gleeok

Boss strategy for Gleeoks:

Gleeok fights are all the same, except the harder ones just have more heads! You fight this Gleeok the same way you fought the Gleeok in Level 4 Dungeon. Dodge his head attacks and swipe with sword. If you have full health, keep your distance and shoot your sword, however, if you do not, run in and swipe and try not to get hit.

Legend of Zelda Dungeon Level 7

Level 7, The Demon, is where you finally get the Red Candle, as well as, use that piece of meat you bought so long ago and haven't known what to do with.

Where is Level 7 anyway?

Level 7 entrance is hidden. You need the flute to reveal it. To find it, go to the only fairy-like pond screen that does not have a fairy. It is to the West of the fairy in the West. Simply, play your flute and the water will disappear, revealing the entrance to Level 7 dungeon in Legend of Zelda.

Legend of Zelda Dungeon Level 7

Once you are inside Level 7, go up, and bomb a hole in the wall to the left, there is a key if you go right four rooms, you can get it and come back to this room, then go left and down to room with snakes, get that key too then go up twice and take a right. Skip the door to the north with the three dodongos, it is a -100 rupees trick room.

Go right and then up twice, bomb a hole in the wall to the right and enter to get key. Go left twice and then up, give the hungry guy the meat and continue north to get the map.

Use key to go right and then up and right to get a key, back left then down and bomb a hole in the wall to the right and push up and left bock to take stairs to get candle. The Red Candle is used to burn the bush to get into the Level 8 Dungeon.

Item: Red Candle

Legend of Zelda Red Candle

Now that you have Red Candle its time to make our way to the boss of Level 7 Dungeon in Legend of Zelda, another Gleeok. From the room with stairs to candle go right twice then up and to the right. In the room with hands you need to push center block to reveal stairs to room next to boss. Take stairs and bomb hole in the wall to the right and defeat the Gleeok to get your heart container and triforce piece.

Boss Strategy: Gleeok

Fighting Gleeoks are all the same. Aim from far and shoot your sword if you are at full life, or run in and swipe with your sword. Do this until you beat the Gleeok and get ready for Level 8.

Legend of Zelda Dungeon Level 6

Back on track after the previous Legend of Zelda Dungeon Level 5 entry. I have finished beating the original Legend of Zelda for walkthroughs, and have only a few more dungeons to post.

Enter Dungeon Level 6 then go up one room and defeat the Wizzrobes and get the key. Go left and do the same. Go north and then use key to go left. Use key to go north again from the room with fireball spitting statues.

Legend of Zelda Dungeon Level 6

North of this room is hint room: "South of arrow mark hides a secret." Once you get secret, go back south and then left. Use hidden stairs after pushing up on block behind the trap in the middle on the left. Here is where you find the ladder.

Go back to the hint room, and bomb the wall to the right. Grab the map and continue right and blow a hole in the north wall in the room to the right of the map room. Grab the compass and in the next room push up on the far left middle row block. Once you take stairs you are close to the boss, but you must first defeat a three headed Gleeok before reaching Gohma, the final boss of the level 6 dungeon in Legend of Zelda.

After you take the stairs, you can bomb the southern wall to get a key, but you must return to the stair room afterwards to continue to the right. From the stair room, go right and defeat three-headed Gleeok.

Continue East and push left block to reveal a third staircase. Before you reach Gohma, in the next room you face a Manhandla type of monster. Use bombs to defeat it quickly, then equip your bow.

The reason I don't have a screenshot of Gohma is because you can kill him so easily, I did it with one shot and wasn't able to get a screenshot of it, I did it so quickly! Just aim one good arrow and hit in the eye and you win.

I fired a single arrow as soon as I entered the room on accident and killed him with one shot, so this is not a hard boss once you know how to kill Gohma. Pick up your heart container and grab your triforce piece. And get ready for Level 7..

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

After all the time one can spend running around in Hyrule in the original Legend of Zelda, there is always time for something as engaging as The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

In regards to the story line, you know, it's the same old thing.

When an evil darkness enshrouds the land of Hyrule, a young farm boy named Link must awaken the hero and the animal within. When Link travels to the Twilight Realm, he transforms into a wolf and must scour the land with the help of a mysterious girl named Midna. Besides his trusty sword and shield, Link will use his bow and arrows by aiming with the Wii Remote controller, fight while on horseback and use a wealth of other items, both new and old.

But at least its fun using the Wii remote.

Legend of Zelda Dungeon Level 5

Now that you found the Ladder in Level 4 Dungeon, there is a heart container on the far east of the map that you can reach, go get it before doing Level 5. You should actually have all five of the hidden heart containers now. If you didn't grab them all, do so now before proceeding any further.

After you get all 5 heart containers, make your way to level 5 dungeon and as usual, bring along a life potion and bombs!

Check out the Legend of Zelda page for heart container locations.

Legend of Zelda Dungeon level 5, The Lizard

Legend of Zelda Dungeon Level 5

The entrance to level 5 dungeon can be found by going into the rocky area to the east one scroll from the waterfall. However, in order to reach the secret dungeon you need to go "up" the ladder 4 times. By touching one of the Armos outside reveals a secret entrance into Level 5, however its the same as entering the normal way :)

Once inside, go right to the room filled with Pols Voices (bouncing mouse looking things) and grab the key.

From here you can either save yourself a key and bomb the northern wall of this room to get the hint room "Digdogger hates certain kind of sound" or you can go back to the entrance room and go north to the room with 3 Gibdos (mummies) and get the key.

The room to the right of this is the hint room so you can skip. However, our first mission should be to get the flute, because you need it to defeat the boss anyway. So bomb the wall to the left, and enter the room with 5 mummies, defeat them and bomb the wall to the left again and get ready for a challenge. This room contains 5 blue Darknuts, which can pose a problem for many. You must defeat them and move the block as usual and make your way to next room by going down the stairs. The stairway will take you to the most northern part of the dungeon, you can either go left or down.

Items: The Flute is to the left, in another room with 5 blue darknuts. Defeat them and move the only block in the room to reveal the staircase leading to flute. Now that you have the flute, you can defeat Digdogger, the final boss of level 5. First, go back to the room to the right and go down once to a room filled with bats, get the key. You CAN bomb the wall to the right, but it takes you one of the "I bet you'd like more bombs" room, skip it, just make your way back to the staircase and make your way back to the very first room with Mummies (one room up from the entrance).

The room above this has 3 Dodongos in it, room to the left has a key protected by 5 Zols (slime blobs) which you can easily defeat. To the north of the room with 3 Dodongos is the map and to the right is another room with Zols. Go north to the room with 5 mummies and get the key, proceed north and defeat 3 red Darknuts to get the compass. The next room to the north has a couple mummies, 2 bats, and 2 Pols Voice. I recommend using arrows against Pols Voice and quickly taking out mummies with sword, switch to Boomerang and take out bats or slow mummies down.

Continue west to a room with 5 more mummies to get another key. Now, set your B weapon to bow and arrow for next room. It contained 5 Pols Voices and the easiest way to defeat them quickly is to shoot arrow through more than one at a time, so as soon as you enter room shoot as many as you can. This is backed up by the hint room to the north of this (reached by bombing wall) that tells you "Secret power is said to be in the arrow."

Exit the hint room and get ready for boss. Be sure to equip the Flute before entering the next room.

Legend of Zelda Dungeon Level 5 Boss Digdogger

Tactics: As soon as you enter, blow on the flute. This will reduce the size of Digdogger and allow you to hit him. The only way to defeat him is to use the flute, if you are at full health or have life potion Digdogger shouldn't be much of a threat after using Flute. Grab your triforce piece and get ready for level 6.

Legend of Zelda Dungeon Level 4

Unlike the other Legend of Zelda dungeons, Level 4 is only accessible via the raft you get in Level 3 dungeon.

More dungeon strategy guides and maps on the Legend of Zelda page

Legend of Zelda Dungeon Level 4 Entrance

Items: In this dungeon you get the ladder, which allows you to cross single water paths, such as rivers. The ladder can be used to successfully dodge many creatures along the rest of the adventure so learn to use it to your advantage in fighting, not just crossing water.

In this dungeon you are also given the clue to walk into the waterfall.

Hints: Upon entering the first room, immediately go left to the room with the Keese (bats) and get the key. Proceed back to entrance room and then go north into room with bouncing Vires.

To the right of this room is more Vires guarding the Compass. After grabbing the compass go back to first room with Vires and go North into room with more bats and another key. Go left, fight off these Vires and then proceed north into room with Vols (blobs) and a key.

Before fighting the boss you want to grab the ladder, so go east, this room has the map. Bomb the northern wall of the room with the map, this room contains free rupees. Go back into room with map and go left, then south, then east until you reach room with ladder.

To get to boss just go back the way you came (two rooms to west) then start going north until you reach room with the Manhandla type monster, defeat it and go north. This room has the hint to "walk into the waterfall."

Legend of Zelda Dungeon Level 4 Boss Gleeok

Time to make your way to Gleeok the final boss.

Continue east two rooms, then south one. Defeat the Vires in this room to open the door to boss. You can also bomb the eastern wall in the room with the free rupees if you want to avoid the trap room.

Gleeok is two rooms east of the free rupee room. Defeat Gleeok and get your triforce piece.

Tactics: The easiest way to defeat Gleeok is to shoot your sword at him if you are full health (don't forget life potions) or you can just swing your sword at his heads and dodge his fireballs. However, once you hit him a few times, one head will come off and start flying around the room shooting fireballs too, so keep moving and keep swiping that sword. Simply avoid the head flying around the room and keep aiming for Gleeok until you defeat him.

Legend of Zelda Dungeon Level 3

After defeating Dodongo in the Level 2 Dungeon in Legend of Zelda, I wanted to get the raft as quickly as possible so I could get the next heart container. Level 3 will present problems for quite a few players, but with some practice and good sword swinging, bomb placing, and boomerang throwing, I was victorious yet again!

Need to get your own copy of this legendary game? Check out the Legend of Zelda page

Legend of Zelda Dungeon Level 3 Entrance

From the starting point I went north and then west to cross the bridge of the river. I continued west a short distance and then went south, and I came across the entrance to Level 3 Dungeon. Make sure to bring some bombs and a potion just in case.

Once inside, the first room only allows you to go left. Do so, and grab the key in the next room, then go north and grab yet another key and kill the slimes. The next room you encounter red Darknuts, you must hit them from the back or side, they are immune to your attacks from the front. Did you bring some bombs? If not, there should be some you can get in this room. Since I wanted to get the raft first, I needed to continue west from this room which is where you find the compass. Avoid the traps and kill the bats with your boomerang. After this you will face two difficult rooms before the raft. Both are filled with red Darknuts and can cause some problems for players. Try your best to avoid taking any damage and just keep moving and stabbing away at them and eventually you will bring them all down. Clear the first room of darknuts and then go south. This room will have 8 red darknuts and a staircase leading to raft. After getting the raft, simply go back the way you came but continue north and grab another key and begin your travel east. You may find more bombs along the way and you will need them for the boss, so pick them up.Once you are in the room above the very first room with darknuts, north of this is a room with moveable block and you get the hint from old man: Did you get the sword from the old man on top of the waterfall? Go west and defeat the bats and grab key. Now its time to fight boss, travel back the way you came and if you havent done so now, go back to the first room with darknuts and bomb the wall, which will take you to another room with 3 darknuts, in the room north of this is the map, get it.

Legend of Zelda Boss Manhandla

In the room with the map, you can bomb the right wall to enter boss room.

Tactics: Manhandla can be defeated using a sword, however, its more difficult than doing it with bombs. Placing bombs as close to the center of Manhandla as possible will take out more than one of his mouths at once, simply do your best to place bombs near him before they explode and you will bring him down fast. After defeating him, grab the heart container and go north of this room for your triforce piece. :)

Legend of Zelda Dungeon Level 2

After grabbing a couple of the hidden heart containers around the Hyrule map, I quickly made my way over to the Level 2 dungeon in The Legend of Zelda.

Here is image of Link getting the triforce after defeating Dodongo, the final boss of the dungeon.

Legend of Zelda Dungeon Level 2

Level 2 Dungeon of legend of Zelda is not that difficult just avoid the snakes and bats as usual and make sure you keep some bombs on you for Dodongo.

Items: In Level 2 you get the blue boomerang, which works similar to the original boomerang, except it goes across the full screen instead of half way. So now you can reach enemies from even further distance!

In one room you are given the hint "Dodongo dislikes smoke." Which reveals a powerful way to defeat the boss Dodongo.

Legend of Zelda Boss Dodongo

Tactics and tips: To defeat Dodongo, simply place a bomb in front of him as he walks towards you, you must place it close so he eats it. The bomb will then explode in his stomach and he doesn't like that very much. Just a few bombs will finish him off, and it's a fairly easy fight.

Legend of Zelda Dungeon Level 1

OK, so after busting out my old NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) Dragon Warrior cartridge yesterday, I couldn't help but pick up that old shiny gold Legend of Zelda game cart I had not seen in many years. It has been packed away safely in a box and safe from dust and moisture for over a decade.

I immediately sank into a good hour of running around jabbing away at those familiar monsters with my "wooden sword" given to me at the start of the game, and soon found myself entering into the Level 1 Dungeon, The Eagle!

The boss of the Legend of Zelda Level 1 Dungeon is Aquamentus.

Legend of Zelda Boss Aquamentus

One of the easiest bosses to defeat in the game, but can be trouble for some.

Tactics: Simply avoid his fireballs by moving and either run in and stab him with your sword, or if you happen to make it this far with full health just stand back and shoot your sword at him to defeat him. Aquamentus only walks back and forth a very short distance, just keep moving and avoid his fireballs!

Items: The Level 1 Dungeon in legend of Zelda is important because you get one of the best weapons in the game, your Boomerang! While playing yesterday I realized how important your boomerang skill is, and this first weapon is to the entire game. The boomerang not only can stop some monsters in their spot, it also comes back to you and some monsters can be killed with simply one shot of your boomerang, so mastering this first weapon can be detrimental to your skill in finishing the game.

You'll find the boomerang two rooms before fighting Aquamentus. The final boss dragon of the Level 1 Dungeon.

In this dungeon you also find the bow, which will be used later in the game but should definitely be picked up while you in here so you don't have to come back for it. To find the bow you must make your way to the "beak" of the Eagle dungeon and once inside the most Western room, simply push up on the block on the left side of the stairs. The block to push up is indicated by red square in picture below.

Legend of Zelda Dungeon

It's amazing at how fun these old games can still be after so many years, and even still challenging. I will post more Legend of Zelda bosses and you can find more strategies and tips on bringing them down.
