Gameboy Advance SP

This year is all about the classics in gaming, and playing those games that you either remember when you were growing up, or ones that came out before you were playing!

Building on the significant improvements and refinements already introduced in the current Game Boy Advance, the new Game Boy Advance SP features a revolutionary Front Light Screen making game play easy in any lighting condition. The system is powered by a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery good for about 10 hours of game play and takes only three hours to recharge. Amazingly, the battery life increases to approximately 18 hours of continuous play when the Front Light Screen is turned off. All current and future Game Boy Advance games are compatible with the new system. And, similarly, Game Boy Advance SP is backward compatible, allowing use with virtually all games and accessories previously released in the Game Boy line.

Sony Playstation 3 - PS3

The Sony PlayStation 3 console is described by Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. (SCEI) President and CEO, Ken Kutaragi as a "supercomputer for computer entertainment." This next-generation Sony video game console is rumored to be available in Spring 2006 and promises to deliver state-of-the-art technology with new, powerful digital media and high storage capacity.

Order your Sony PlayStation3

One of the key questions about the PS3 was what kind of media it would use. Sony has announced that the PS3 will use Blu-Ray discs as its media format, which can hold six times as much data as current DVDs. The PS3 will also support CR-ROM, CD-RW, DVD, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD+R formats. Sony has confirmed that the machine will be backward compatible all the way to the original PlayStation -- you'll be able to play all your favorite games without keeping all the old systems. The console will have slots for Memory Stick Duo, an SD slot and a compact flash memory slot. It will also sport a slot for a detachable 2.5-inch hard disc drive, somewhat similar to the Xbox 360's. Whether or not this drive will come standard still remains a mystery.

Champions of Norrath: Realms of EverQuest

Sony Online Entertainment's newest console addition to the EverQuest universe is impressive indeed. In fact, the amount of content Champions of Norrath offers is almost too much of a good thing (if that's even possible).

Developed by Snowblind Studios, the company behind the original Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, Champions of Norrath offers up the deepest dungeon crawling experience in the console universe to date.

Champions' list of features reads like a perfect recipe for success. There are five playable character classes each with a wide variety of customization, including the ability to name your own avatar. All the dungeons in the game, save the city hubs that connect the whole world together, are randomly generated so that each and every time you play the game the experience is different. There are more than 10,000 randomly generated items in the game, and players can even modify them to create their own unique items. The list, as they say, goes on and on.

But perhaps the biggest and best piece of the Champions puzzle is the fact that the game can be played online with friends. Using the Network Adapter, PlayStation 2 gamers can take Champions online to explore and level up their characters. In fact, the game has three different difficulty settings so that you can play it again with your leveled-up avatars.

This title can be played offline as well. In fact, you can insert or remove your character from an adventure any time you want. Play with three friends at Jimmy's house, and when his mom kicks you out for being a deviant, you can download your character to a memory card, and then continue playing with different players online.

All told, Champions of Norrath is a very compelling dungeon crawler. The ability to play online definitely makes it a standout in the sea of recent releases in the genre. However, the game isn't perfect. At times, it bogs down from the sheer amount of content it offers. Sometimes I felt like I almost had too many items to wade through or too many pointless dungeons to clear.

These simple complaints aside, if you love leveling up and searching for the latest and greatest weapon for your characters, you really can't go wrong with Champions of Norrath. It's a solid game that gets even better if you have the ability to go online and set out on adventures with other players from around the world.

Concept:
Use the EverQuest license to create an all-encompassing dungeon crawler

Graphics:
The graphics and effects are top-notch in the genre

Sound:
Obviously done by someone who has watched The Lord Of The Rings too many times (and that's a good thing)

Playability:
It's all about the hack n' slash, however the battles still manage to be fairly challenging

Entertainment:
If you love dungeons and finding items, you can't go wrong here.

Champions of Norrath: Realms of EverQuest

Enter furious hack-and-slash combat set in the world of EverQuest! Choose from 5 different character races with hundreds of spells and abilities at your disposal and over 10,000 items to find. Random dungeon creation means you'll never play the same game twice. Take your adventure online and experience the thrill of multi-player adventure!

Age Of Empires 3

It's the dawn of a new age in real-time strategy (RTS) games. A brave New World is rising--a hostile yet beautiful world, filled with innovative gameplay, new strategic scenarios, eye-searing graphics and much more. Welcome to a world called Age of Empires III.

Campaign
In this action adventure tale of historical fiction, players take on the role of Morgan Black and his family, struggling against the hostile wilderness and a mysterious cult that's crept in from Europe.

In a series of 24 scenarios divided into three acts, Morgan Black and his descendants help the Aztecs resist conquest by Spanish conquistadors, pit the French against the British in the French and Indian War and help Simon Bolivar lead revolutions in South America.

Multiplayer
Whether you're searching for a quick game or hoping to talk strategy with friends online, Age of Empires III's Multiplayer site is your community destination.

Here, you can play with persistent Home Cities that gain power and strategic options the more games you play, compete for a spot on dozens of ladders, help organize your clan or chat after a game -- all without leaving the multiplayer portal.

Fans of Age of Mythology's Quick Search can still look for games swiftly, while players looking for something specific can browse game lists to find the set of options that matches their tastes.

This revolutionary new feature to the RTS landscape is incorporated into all aspects of Age of Empires III -- from Campaign to Multiplayer -- and is unlike anything you've experienced before.

Much like the persistent character from a role-playing game that encourages you to keep playing, your Home City is an important support system to your efforts in the New World. During a game, your Home City can regularly send you supplies or military reinforcements.

You are the leader of your colony, but your success brings glory back to Mother Europe. The more games you play, and the better you do, the more powerful your Home City will become. Every few games, you gain the ability to both upgrade and customize your Home City:

Microsoft Age of Empires 3

* Upgrade your city by unlocking new types of soldiers or buildings, or improving those you already have.
* Broaden your tech tree in whatever direction most fits your play style--invest in warships, native alliances, cavalry, artillery or economy.
* Customize your Home City by changing the appearance of buildings, the weather or even the types of people who walk, work and perform in its streets.
* Throughout a game, as well as in between games, you can visit your Home City to watch its citizens go about their lives, get an opinion on how you're doing, plot your next move or just marvel at the beautiful sunset.

The new game picks up where Age of Empires II: Age of Kings left off, placing gamers in the position of a European power determined to explore, colonize and conquer the New World. This time period features stunning scenes, from towering European cathedrals to courageous tribes of Native Americans, and spectacular combat with Industrial Age units like rifled infantry, cavalry and tall ships bristling with cannons.

Pavilion Chess Teacher

In an age that seems convinced high tech is always better, it's nice to see such an intelligently low-tech approach to teaching the world's greatest board game. This is simply a standard plastic Staunton-style chess set--with one big difference. Each piece is marked with its name, its value, and the directions in which it can legally move when moving or taking. The large (2-inch), hollow pieces are lightweight and feel pretty flimsy, but in fact they're sturdy and their extra-wide bases give them the stability that small, clumsy fingers need. A folding board and instructions are included with the set. The instructions, unfortunately, are weak; they're best used as an aid to memory by someone who has already had the game explained. --Richard Farr

Black and oyster white molded plastic pieces each indicate which directions pieces can move. Perfect for the beginner or young enthusiast. The "American Chess Foundation" is using Cardinal Chess Sets for their chess in schools program throughout the country.

King's Quest IX

The first King's Quest game was the first "3-D" game in 1984 and the first to use a color with more than 2 or 3 colors. It gave rise to the adventure genre that has slowly fallen into disfavor among the general gaming population.

But here at Gamer Dungeon we love RPG's and MMORPG games. So check back for more video game news.

Xbox 360 Game System

Xbox 360 sets a new pace for digital entertainment. More than just a cutting-edge game system, Xbox 360 also integrates high-definition video, DVD movie playback, digital music, photos, and online connectivity into one sleek, small tower.

Xbox 360 is much smaller than its predecessor--it measures approximately 3.3 by 12.2 by 10.2 inches and weighs 7.7 lbs. It's powered by custom IBM PowerPC-based CPU with three symmetrical cores each running at 3.2 GHz. It also carries a custom ATI graphics processor 10 MB of embedded DRAM. This is powerful enough to draw 500 million triangles per second. In other words, it makes for great looking games in standard TV definition, and even better thanks to built-in support for HDTV 1080i televisions. It also supports the widescreen 16:9 format.

The unit has a 12x dual-layer DVD-ROM drive, which plays both the game media and progressive-scan DVD movies right out of the box. For game-save and media storage, users can choose between the detachable and upgradeable 20GB hard drive, or a separately sold 64MB flash Memory Unit. Along with storing files, the hard drive will make the Xbox 360 backward-compatible with part of the existing Xbox game library.

Xbox 360 uses a refined button layout for its controllers. Back and Start buttons sit at the center of the controller and between them is a new Xbox Guide button, which instantly takes the user to the Xbox 360 user interface. From there, they can check for friends online, access personal digital content like photos and songs, and more. The black and white buttons of the first Xbox controllers have been replaced with new shoulder buttons placed above the left and right triggers. Xbox 360 can accommodate up to four wireless controllers and has three USB 2.0 slots to use for wired controllers or for streaming your digital media from digital cameras, MP3 players, and any Windows XP-based PC. Microsoft has announced plans for a upcoming video-conferencing camera that will work with the system.

Xbox 360 is scheduled to launch with more than 20 launch titles, with several more slated to be released within the following month. Launch titles include Madden NFL 2006, Project Gotham Racing 3, and the long-awaited Perfect Dark Zero. All Xbox 360 titles can be played in either standard or high-definition resolution in 16:9 widescreen, with anti-aliasing for smoother graphics. Game designers will be able to take advantage of the system's multi-channel surround sound. The Xbox 360's digital media allows users to supplement any game's music from tracks in their own personal library.

A built-in Ethernet port allows users to connect their system to a broadband connection for access to the new Xbox Live Silver. The included service lets anyone create a Gamertag and gamer card to express your online identity, chat live with voice chat, and connect to the Xbox Live Marketplace to buy expansions, maps, and other digital goodies for your games. The subscription service Xbox Live Gold adds to that online competition, game stats, and video chat/messaging. The separately sold wireless adapter supports the common 802.11a, -b, and -g standards.

What's Included in the Game System

* Xbox 360 console
* 20GB detachable hard drive
* Wireless controller
* Wireless Xbox Live headset
* High-definition AV cables
* Ethernet cable
* Xbox 360 Media Remote Control (limited time)
* Detachable faceplate
* Xbox Live Silver membership

Release dates and pricing are tentative and subject to change based on availability at launch. Product is not guaranteed on release date. Orders are shipped on a first-come, first-serve basis due to limited supplies and indeterminate launch quantities.

The fully-loaded Xbox 360 System delivers the most powerful console, the best games, the next generation of Xbox Live and unique digital entertainment experiences that all revolve around you. The full system includes the Xbox 360 console, wireless controller, component HDAV cable, composite AV cable, hard drive, ethernet cable, headset, Xbox Live Silver, Xbox Live Gold 30-day trial, and premium chrome details.

Blizzard being sued for Warcraft Suicide

The creators of World Of Warcraft are being sued by the parents of a thirteen year old boy who jumped to his death from a 24 story. The parents are now blaming the video game company because the boy allegedly played too much Warcraft.

Why do parents feel the need to place blame on an innocent company and their successful video game? Do they feel such pain that they should cast this kind of pathetic attempt at blame on a company who's only fault is putting out a game that kids, as well as adults, like to play too much? That's not a crime, that's called making a kick ass game!

Parents, if your child jumps off a cliff you cannot blame a video game. You should take a look at the severe mental issues that child has, that most likely originate with the methods you not only disciplined your child, but the value of their life and mental happiness which you as an adult have been in control of.

The video game did not kill your child, your child killed himself. Stop blaming our great games and blame yourself.
